WWE NXT Preview: Battleground Go-Home Show, Special Joe Hendry Appearance

WWE NXT is set for a big night on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, as it’s the final show before the NXT Battleground Premium Live Event this Sunday, May 25th.

One of the highlights will be a special live concert from current TNA World Champion Joe Hendry. Hendry is scheduled to defend his TNA World Championship against Trick Williams at Battleground in a historic crossover match, and his concert is sure to add another layer to their building rivalry. Not to be outdone, Trick Williams himself will also be showcasing his talents outside of traditional wrestling, as he is set to deliver a rap performance for the NXT fans. These segments are expected to be key moments in the final build to their groundbreaking title match.

In the women’s division action, Kelani Jordan will face Zaria. This match carries a big prize for Jordan: if she manages to defeat Zaria, she will earn a shot at Sol Ruca’s NXT Women’s North American Championship at Battleground. This adds extra pressure and importance to their singles contest.

Tag team competition will see the new class of Chase U, represented by Uriah Connors & Kale Dixon, take on the returning and always dangerous OTM, consisting of Bronco Nima & Lucien Price. This match comes after Connors and Dixon sought a challenge to get Chase U back on track, and OTM will surely provide a tough test.

Also on the card, “The Chairman” Shawn Spears is scheduled to go one-on-one with the hard-hitting Josh Briggs. This match was set up after a backstage run-in where Spears made comments about Briggs’ former tag team partner. With both men known for their intense styles, this promises to be a physical battle as NXT heads into Battleground.
