WWE has decided to change the name of one of their newest signees.
The man formerly known as Punishment Martinez will now be known as Damien Priest. This was revealed in an article done by the Sports Business Journal about the Performance Center and how WWE gets talent ready for the main roster.
According to the article, Priest will be a “darker character” and this means he will be getting new outfits, a new entrance and a new persona. Priest seems to welcome the change. He said, “I’ve always been into the weird, the odd, the dark, so that’s the character I’ve always represented.”
The article points out that there have been wrestlers that needed to be repackaged and Husky Harris was cited as an example. He became Bray Wyatt. Ironically, Wyatt is currently undergoing a major change as well.
It will be interesting to see the creative plans for the new Damien Priest on NXT TV.
