WWE NXT star not legitimately injured

WWE had advertised Timothy Thatcher vs. Tommaso Ciampa in the NXT Fight Pit in advance for Wednesday’s episode of NXT on the USA Network, which was billed as New Year’s Evil.

However, fans picked up on Wednesday morning that WWE had removed all advertisements for the contest from its website and social media.

Later that afternoon, WWE had NXT General Manager William Regal announce that Thatcher was injured and couldn’t compete in the contest. It was noted that he suffered the injury while training for the bout.

Pwinsider.com reports that Thatcher is not legitimately injured. Instead, WWE made the call to push the match back and they came up with the injury storyline to cover up the delay.

Although an exact date for the contest isn’t known yet, the match is expected to take place in the weeks ahead on the weekly television show.
