For months, there’s been talk in WWE about NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler moving to Monday Night Raw or SmackDown.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE had big plans for Baszler and she was going to be pushed as a major star on one of the main roster shows.
However, those plans have been put on ice now that NXT is airing weekly on the USA Network. The same can be said for other names that were scheduled to move to Raw or Friday Night SmackDown. It seemed like Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were being groomed for the main roster several months ago when they were being featured on Raw and SmackDown but now they are in a major storyline on NXT and there’s no word on when they could move to a main roster show.
In regards to Baszler, Meltzer said that people in WWE are very high on her and there were significant plans for her on the main roster before those plans were nixed.
Baszler was a big part of the Raw and SmackDown tapings on Friday night in Manchester. Click here for spoilers from other tapings.
She will be the captain of the first-ever women’s NXT WarGames match at TakeOver in the Chicago area on November 23rd. Baszler’s team will include Io Shirai, Bianca Belair and another name to be announced. They will take on captain Rhea Ripley, Candice LeRae, Mia Yim, and Tegan Nox.
Baszler will also wrestle at Survivor Series in the champion vs. champion vs. champion match. She will be in the ring with Bayley and Becky Lynch.
