WWE NXT stars had no idea they were being called up to the main roster

Night one of this year’s WWE Drafted started on last week’s episode of SmackDown, where talent stayed and changed brands, including NXT stars who were called up and moved to Raw and SmackDown.

Instead of the traditional post-WrestleMania call-ups on Raw and SmackDown as surprises, this was done.

As previously reported, there were some big names who were not told in advance they would be changing brands for the Draft. Instead, they found out at the same time as the fans.

Reigning NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre were also in the dark about the main roster call-ups. The changes to the roster will be put into place after Saturday’s Backlash.

While speaking with David LaGreca and Mark Henry of Busted Open Radio, Fyre, Dawn spoke about being drafted, noting they had no idea it was coming.

Fyre: “I’ve been saying it for days. I still don’t feel like it’s quite settled in yet. We had no idea. No idea that we were going to be drafted.”

Dawn: “As you could tell by our eyeballs going (shocked).”

Fyre noted that they’d worked hard for a long time to get to this moment, which means the world is appreciated. Dawn pointed out that winning the titles at Stand & Deliver a month ago was their second televised match where they teamed together.

On Tuesday’s episode of NXT, they’ll defend their titles against Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, likely a spot where they will drop the titles.
