WWE NXT TakeOver 36: Ted DiBiase got physical, new Million Dollar Champion crowned

The Million Dollar Championship match between LA Knight and Cameron Grimes kicked off NXT TakeOver 36 from Orlando.

Per the stipulation, if Knight won the match then DiBiase would have to be his butler. DiBiase was in Grimes’ corner for the match and Grimes wore new gear with dollar signs on it.

Grimes got in the first offense with chops, knees, and kicks to the body. DiBiase got involved early by launching/assisting Grimes into Knight in the corner at ringside. Knight hit his own offense for a few minutes until Grimes came back with a kick in the corner and an attempt to lock in the million dollar dream. Knight kicked out but Grimes was able to execute a hurricanrana into a pin attempt.

Later in the match, there was a very close near fall after Grimes fell on Knight after both men collided in the air. It’s unclear how it happened but Grimes was busted open near his nose. Knight hit Grimes with an overhead German suplex off the top rope but Grimes was able to kick out of the pin attempt.

Knight tried to use the belt but his plan backfired. DiBiase punched Knight and then tossed the belt in the ring to distract the referee while he applied the million dollar dream. Grimes pinned Knight after hitting the double stomp.
