WWE NXT Takeover: Chicago results: Awesome UK Championship match, Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami and a shocking heel turn

Welcome to the WWE NXT Takeover: Chicago pre-show. Charly Caruso, Nigel McGuinness, and Peter Rosenberg made up the panel. The panel hype the NXT Women’s Title, NXT Tag Team Title, and NXT Title matches. A video package was shown to hype the UK Title Match between Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne. Ember Moon joined the panel to talk about the Women’s Title Match. Moon said that she doesn’t care who she has to face when she gets back. Roderick Strong cut a promo backstage about his upcoming match with Eric Young and he told Young to never mention his family again. A video package was shown to hype Hideo Itami vs. Bobby Roode.

Welcome to WWE NXT Takeover: Chicago. We get a video package hyping all of the matches on the card. Our opening contest is….

Singles Match: Eric Young vs. Roderick Strong

Young was waiting in the ring when Strong came through the crowd and attacked other Sanity members. He then got into the ring and went after Young. A brawl broke out. Strong landed some chops and right hands. Young caught him with an elbow and a back suplex. Young hit a neck breaker for 2. Strong hit a big clothesline then some right hands. Strong sent him to the apron and hit a knee strike. He knocked Young off the apron and Dain took out Strong, but the match continues. The referee apparently didn’t see it. Young tossed him into the ring and worked him over. Moments later, Strong made his comeback when he hit a drop kick as Strong was coming off the middle rope. Strong with a series of right hands then a back breaker. Strong caught him with a knee strike then a powerslam for 2. Young rolled out of the ring to regroup and sent him back first to the floor. Young knocked him down and hit an elbow drop off the top rope for 2. Strong with a big boot and then knocked off Sanity members. Strong went for a slam but Young raked the eyes. Young went to the top rope but Young knocked him down. Strong hit him with a knee strike and he fell to the floor taking out Sanity. Back in the ring, Strong hit a knee strike then his finisher for the win.

Winner: Strong.

WWE UK Championship Match: Tyler Bate © vs. Pete Dunne

They lock up and do some mat wrestling to begin the match. Dunne worked over the left arm of Bate. Bate knocked him down and Dunne rolled out of the ring. Dunne bent the fingers of Bate but Bate knocked him off the steel steps then hit a dive. Dunne caught him with a knee strike and a suplex on the apron. Back in the ring, Dunne continued to work over the left arm of Bate. Bate fought back with a suplex but Dunne hit a series of top kicks and went for a suplex but Bate countered and hit a german suplex for 2. Bate went for a moonsault but Dunne caught him in a triangle choke. Bate lifted him up and hit a powerslam. Bate hit the airplane spin for a near fall. Bate went for a springboard move but Dunne caught him with a forearm shot and then a powerbomb for 2. They exchanged shots and Dunne hit an enziguri. Bate with a kick and Dunne answered with his. Bate with a huge clothesline for 2. Bate went for his finisher but Dunne reversed and went for his but Bate reversed and hit a DDT. Dunne rolled to the floor and Bate hit a springboard moonsault. Back in the ring, Bate hit a dive for 2. Dunne rolled to the floor and Bate went for a dive but Dunne avoided it. Back in the ring, Dunne hit his finisher for the win.

Winner: Dunne.

NXT Women’s Championship Match: Asuka © vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross

Asuka tossed Cross to the floor and locked up with Riot. Riot knocked her to the floor and was taken out by Cross. Riot hit Asuka with a forearm shot and Cross attacked Riot from behind. Back in the ring, Cross hit a neckbreaker. Asuka hit a drop kick to Cross while landing a dive onto Riot. Asuka with a series of kicks to Cross but Cross fought back with a neck breaker for 2. Riot tossed Cross to the floor and Asuka hit a powerbomb then locked in the ankle lock. Asuka shoved Riot into Cross but Cross pulled down the middle rope and sent Asuka to the floor. Cross landed a series of strikes to Riot, who then fought back with a series of clotheslines. Riot hit a botched hurricanrana off the top rope to Asuka then sent Cross into the turnbuckle. Riot shoved Asuka to the floor but Asuka caught Cross with a knee strike. Riot went for a dive and hit it onto Asuka. Back in the ring, Cross and Asuka brawled. Cross hit a slam to Asuka for 2. Cross locked in a sleeper to Riot and Asuka hit Cross with a german suplex and Riot hit Asuka with a kick. Riot went to the top rope and missed a splash. Asuka locked in the Asuka Lock on Riot but Cross broke it up. Cross put Asuka on the apron and landed a series of strikes. Back in the ring, Cross hit a neckbreaker for 2 as Riot broke it up. Riot and Cross sent Asuka to the floor. Riot rolled up Cross for 2 and then Cross hit a kick to Riot. Riot with a kick to Cross for 2 as Asuka broke it up with a baseball slide. Asuka laid on both girls for the win.

Winner: Asuka – still champ.

NXT Championship Match: Bobby Roode © vs. Hideo Itami

Roode heeled it up early and Itami went for the GTS but Roode got out of it and regrouped outside the ring. Back in the ring, Itami fought out of a headlock and hit a back elbow then a headlock of his own. Itami knocked him down then mocked him and hit a knee strike. Roode hit a big boot and put the boots to him on the floor. Roode sent him into the corner and hit a clothesline followed up by a neck breaker for 2. Roode locked in a headlock. Itami fought out of it but Roode cut him off with a knee strike. Itami countered a neck breaker but Roode caught him with a clothesline then heeled it up some more to get a reaction out of the crowd. Itami slapped Roode and Roode hit a big boot. Itami with a series of kicks then a running boot. Itami with a suplex then went to the top rope and hit a flying clothesline for 2. Itami sent Roode into the ring post and hit a series of kicks. Itami locked in an arm submission but Roode got out of it and Itami hit the Falcon Arrow. Itami with some kicks but Roode caught him and hit a spinebuster for 2. Itami teased the GTS but Roode used the top rope to his advantage. Itami sent Roode into the steel steps but then missed a drop kick and hit the steel steps. Back in the ring, Itami with a drop kick in the corner. Itami went for the GTS but Roode blocked it and hit the Glorious DDT for 2. Itami hit the GTS but Roode fell out of the ring. Itami put Roode back into the ring and covered him for a near fall. Itami went for it again but Roode blocked it and went for his finisher. Itami with some slaps and went for the GTS again but Roode blocked it and hit the Glorious DDT twice for the win.

Winner: Roode – still champ.

NXT Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: Authors of Pain © vs. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa

They start brawling to begin the match. DIY grabbed the ladders from under the ring, but AOP attacked them and sent him to into the barricade. Ciampa sent Rezar into the ring steps. DIT grabbed the biggest ladder and put it into the ring. AOP attacked Ciampa and Gargano hit an outside dive through the ladder taking out AOP. DIY hit AOP with a ladder and Ciampa climbed the ladder, but Rezar took him out. AOP went for a double powerbomb but DIY climbed the ladders, and AOP knocked them off. AOP hit them with a ladder that sent DIY to the floor. AOP grabbed two more ladders and placed them in between the apron and barricade. AOP went for double powerbombs, but Ciampa fought back and saved Gargano, who hit Akam with a drop kick. They placed AOP onto the ladders and went to the top rope where they hit a dive onto Rezar and Akam crashing through the tables. Ciampa and Akam climbed the ladder. Gargano set up a ladder next to them and climbed it as well as Rezar. Akam knocked Ciampa down, and he knocked over Gargano and Rezar. Gargano landed on a ladder and was about to grab the titles, but Paul Ellering pulled him down. Gargano hit Ellering with a super kick. Akam hit a big boot to Gargano. AOP set up a ladder in the corner and sent Ciampa onto it. AOP was about to hit Ciampa with a ladder, but Gargano pushed Ciampa out of the way and got hit with it. AOP climbed the ladder, but Ciampa hit a german suplex to Rezar that sent him through a ladder, which exploded. Akam put a ladder on his shoulder and DIY hit a drop kick to him. DIY climbed the ladder, and AOP kicked the ladders from under them. DIY held onto the titles and AOP hit a series of powerbombs. AOP climbed the ladder and grabbed the titles for the win.

Winner: AOP – still champs.

DIY regrouped in the ring then walked up to the stage as highlights from the match was shown. Ciampa turned on Gargano as he sent him into the stage and landed a series of strikes. Ciampa with a running knee to Gargano then pulled down his knee pads and hit another one. The crowd chanted “f**k you Ciampa.” This led to Ciampa putting Gargano on top of the announce table and power slamming onto a stack of tables. Medicals checked on Gargano as Ciampa watched on. This closed the show.
