The show kicked off with Todd Pettengill in a studio with a green screen with the old In Your House set. They showed a video package to hype the top matches and the graphics and music used were the same as the mid-90s graphics and music. After the video packages, Code Orange performed a song.
Six-Woman Tag Team Match
Mia Yim, Shotzi Blackheart, and Tegan Nox vs. Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, and Raquel Gonzalez
Yim and LeRae started the match as the “fans” chanted “this is awesome.” LeRae quickly tagged out and tagged in Gonzalez. After a few minutes, the pace picked up when it was Nox and Kai in the ring. Shortly after, they did a spot with most of the women on the outside and the others taking turns doing dives on them.
Yim and LeRae finally squared off around 7 minutes into the match. Yim got in the early offense but LeRae was able to turn things around with a suplex. Gonzalez and Nox tagged in and Nox nailed her with several body shots but Gonzalez hit a powerbomb that Yim was supposed to break up but it was botched so the ref had to awkwardly stop the count. LeRae and Yim brawled at ringside as the match continued with the other four women. Nox won the match by hitting the Shiniest Wizard on Kai. Blackheart and Nox celebrated.
They did an old school “promotional consideration” commercial with Willam Regal playing the role of Lord Alfred Hayes. It was a commercial for the new WWE cookie cream bars.
Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest
Balor got in the early offense with chops to the chest and stomps to the leg that sent Priest out of the ring. Priest got back on offense when the action moved back into the ring. Several minutes later, Priest was able to hit the Broken Arrow but Balor fought his way out of a pin attempt and then nailed a double stomp. They traded strong style punches and kicks and Balor hit the Pele Kick for a near fall.
Priest turned things around and hit a Razor’s Edge on Balor on the ring apron. This almost led to a pin but Balor was able to kick out. Moments later, Priest hit a couple of roundhouse kicks but Balor was able to recover and he hit a running drop kick into the corner and then followed up with an attempt to do the Coup de Grace but Priest caught him by the neck and he launched himself and Balor off the top rope. Balor was able to kick out of a pin attempt. Priest tried to hit the Razor’s Edge on Balor on the steps but Balor slipped out and then hit a forearm to Priest and that knocked Priest off the apron and onto steel steps that were set up earlier at ringside. Balor followed by a Coup de Grace on the back of Priest’s neck and then he hit another one and then pinned Priest.
After the match, Balor did the double point in Priest’s direction.
They did an ICOPRO commercial with Adam Cole.
NXT North American Championship
Keith Lee (Champion) vs. Johnny Gargano
Lee had “Black Lives Matter” on his tights. Gargano seems to be working a smarter style these days by not taking so many big bumps. It was a basics match for several minutes until the pace began to pick up. At one point, Gargano tried a spear but was hammer fisted by Lee. Not long after this, there was a striking exchange that led to Gargano locking in an armbar while Lee was standing. There were more exchanges but Lee won this won with a strong clothesline.
Several minutes later, Gargano and Lee were almost counted out but Gargano rolled into the ring and insisted on the match continuing. Gargano went to get Lee but was pounced through one of the plexiglass walls. Lee was bringing Gargano into the ring but Candice LeRae appeared but Mia Yim was behind her and they brawled in and out of the ring as Gargano pulled keys out of his tights. He used the keys to dig into Lee’s eyes. Gargano then hit One Final Beat but Lee kicked out of the pin attempt. Gargano hit the kick to the head but Lee kicked out. Gargano hit another kick but Lee kicked out again. Another kick, Lee kicked out again. Lee fought his way back with the Spirit Bomb. Lee followed up with the Big Band Catastrophe and then pinned Gargano to retain his title.
They did another “promotional consideration” for the cookie sandwiches.
NXT Championship – Last Chance Backlot Brawl
Adam Cole (Champion) vs. Velveteen Dream
This was a cinematic match. Cole arrived in a monster truck and Dream drove inside of a Lamborghini. Dream wore a leather jacket and had a baseball bat in his hand like Negan on The Walking Dead. There was a ring in the backlot and there were no rules except that the match would need to end in the ring.
They wrestled in the ring for a couple of minutes but Cole tried to escape in a car but Dream ran up to the car and smashed the windows with a baseball bat. They fought in the lot and an Uber driver showed up for some reason. Cole as able to escape through a door but it was a trap to buy time to get a fire extinguisher so he could spray it on Dream. Moments later they battled on a ladder as the rest of The Undisputed Era showed up. COle was pushed off the ladder and onto a car windshield. Cole’s arm was busted up but he shouted instructions at TUE on how to take out Dream.
Undisputed Era tossed a bunch of chairs into the ring. Dexter Lumis showed up and he shoved Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong into the trunk of a car and he drove off. Cole was able to get back to the ring and then tried the Panama Sunrise but Dream countered into a Death Valley Driver. Dream then hit a Purple Rainmaker onto Cole through a chair but Cole was barely able to kick out of the pin attempt. Cole hit a low blow out of nowhere and then hit the Panama Sunrise onto the stack of chairs. Cole pinned Dream to retain the title and Dream can never challenge Cole for the title again.
Todd Pettengill plugged some merchandise and then DX was shown trying to use AOL chat.
Tommasso Ciampa vs. Karrion Kross
Kross hit some high impact suplexes and dominated the first couple of minutes of the match. Ciampa was able to fight back and he drove Kross’ head into the steps. Back in the ring, Kross no sold Ciampa and took over the match for several more minutes.
Kross would hit several power moves but Ciampa was finally able to fight back with quick strikes and the draping DDT. Ciampa then hit two running knees to the head and then he tried the Fairytale Ending but Kross tossed him off before locking in the Kross Jacket submission. That was a one-sided dominant win for Kross.
Code Orange was shown at ringside. They also showed a disheveled Robert Stone, upset about being dumped by Chelsea Green.
NXT Women’s Championship – Triple Threat Match
Charlotte Flair (Champion) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Io Shirai
As is customary for most NXT matches, it took a while for the pace to pick up. The near falls started around 10 minutes in the match. Flair hit a spear on both of her opponents but they were able to kick out. Flair tried to hit a moonsault on both women but she took knees to the face. Shirai locked in a cross face but that was broken up by a kick from Ripley.
Flair tried to hit Natural Selection but Ripley countered and Ripley hit a missile dropkick onto Ripley from the top rope. Shirai hit the double knees on Shirai into the corner and Flair then hit Shirai with the Natural Selection but Shirai kicked out of the pin attempt.
Flair was also able to lock in the Figure 8 on Shirai but Ripley pulled Flair out the ring and the action spilled to the ringside area and Shirai did a dive through the ropes onto Ripley on the floor. Flair then shoved Shirai through the In Your House set. Then it was Ripley and Flair brawling near the set. Shirai then made her way up to the top of the house so she could dive off of it onto Flair and Ripley on the floor. They made their way back into the ring and Flair crashed hard into the corner and out of the ring when she missed a spear. Flair made her way back in and then took Shirai out of the match. Ripley hit the Rip Tide off the top rope onto Charlotte but Shirai made it back in the ring to break up the pin attempt.
Shirai was back on offense but Ripley countered into the Prism Trap but Flair grabbed a kendo stick and used it on Ripley and Shirai. Flair then hit a spear and then locked in the Figure 8 but Shirai hit a moonsault off the top and then pinned Ripley to win the title. There was tons of confetti for Shirai’s celebration.
