The NXT Cruiserweight Championship unification match between champion Jordan Devlin and interim champion Santos Escobar kicked off the main card for night 2 of WWE NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.
They started the match by trading punches and then some standard pro wrestling. A few minutes into the match, Devlin hit an impressive springboard moonsault onto Escobar outside of the ring. At this point is when Devlin brought the ladder into the match and eventually a second ladder.
From this point forward, they did a lot of ladder spots, including Devlin falling off the ladder and hitting a DDT on Escobar. Shortly after, Escobar did a running dive into the ropes that knocked Devlin into a ladder that was standing up at ringside.
Late in the match, Devlin hit a standing moonsault onto Escobar from the top of the ladder in the ring. Devlin went to grab the title but Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza pulled him off and attacked him outside of the ring. This was legal because there are no DQ’s in a ladder match. This allowed Escobar to climb up but Devlin recovered in time so he could get up and toss a ladder on Escobar’s back. Devlin set up a second ladder next to Escobar in the ring and Devlin hit a Spanish fly to take them both off the ladders.
Both men eventually got back up to the top of a ladder but Escobar pushed Devlin off to send him crashing through a ladder. Santos then grabbed the titles to become the undisputed champion.
