WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames: Pete Dunne vs. Killian Dain vs. Damian Priest

The second match on the main card for NXT TakeOver: WarGames was a Triple Threat number 1 contender’s match featuring Pete Dunne vs. Killian Dain vs. Damian Priest. The winner would get a title shot against Adam Cole’s NXT Championship at Survivor Series on Sunday night. This match was originally scheduled for last week’s NXT TV but plans changed and it was moved to TakeOver in Chicago.

This was another great match. At one point, Priest did a Razor’s Edge onto Dunne on the announcer’s table and then Dain did a dive through the ropes onto Priest. Dain also did a running cannonball at ringside onto Priest and through the barricade. Later on, Priest did a Razor’s Edge on Dain but Dunne broke up the pin attempt. Priest is clearly a Scott Hall fan because he had gear on that was inspired by Hall and Kevin Nash.

Moments later, Priest did a dive over the top onto Dain at ringside and then Dunne did a moonsault off the top onto Priest and Dain at ringside. Several minutes later, Dunne hit the Bitter End on Dain and looked like he was about to win the match but Priest nailed Dunne with a kick to the head to break up the pin attempt.

Moments later, Priest almost had the match won when he hit the Reckoning on Dunne but Dain fell on top of him and broke up the pin attempt. Moments later, Dunne hit a super plex off the top on Dain and then the Bitter End on Priest but Dain broke up the pin attempt with a back splash. Dunne got on Dain’s back and Dain fell back but happened to fall back on Priest. Dunne pinned Priest to become the number 1 contender. He will face Adam Cole for the NXT Championship at Survivor Series. Wow. What a match.
