This year’s WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames show kicked off with the Women’s WarGames match featuring Team Shotzi (Shotzi Blackheart, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley, and Io Shirai) vs. Team Candice (Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Raquel González, and Toni Storm).
Blackheart came out with a new bigger tank for her entrance. Kai and Moon started the match. After the first 5 minutes, Blackheart entered the match and she brought a toolbox and a crowbar into the ring. Gonzalez was the next competitor to enter the match to even things up for the heel side.
Ripley was next to enter the match, followed by Storm. Storm brought kendo sticks into the ring. At one point, they did a convoluted tower of doom spot with three women tumbling in one ring and the other three in the other ring. The microphones picked up someone counting down so they could time the spot.
Shirai entered the match and she brought ladders into the ring. Gonzalez shoved the ladder into Shirai to knock her into the barricade so Shirai was not able to enter the match right away. Shirai kicked a chair into Gonzalez’s face and she as about to enter the ring but Gonzalez kept her out and Storm tied a belt around the door to keep it shut. LeRae was the final competitor.
Indie Hartwell attacked Shirai at ringside and she brought a chair and a trash can into the match to help LeRae. At this point, Shirai still was not able to get into the match and the cage door was locked with a chain. The WarGames part of the match was not started at this point because Shirai had yet to get into the ring and the heels had the advantage because they were using weapons.
Shirai went up to the top of the cage and then dove onto all of the women while wearing a trash can. This meant that the WarGames portion of the match could begin. They did a bunch of crazy spots with the various weapons and plenty of finishers and near falls. Team LeRae won after Gonzalez powerbombed Shirai through a ladder bridge in between both rings.
