A new number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship was determined on the October 14, 2025, episode of WWE NXT. Tatum Paxley won a women’s battle royal to earn a future championship match against the current titleholder, Jacy Jayne.
The match featured women from the NXT and TNA roster, with the winner being the last person remaining in the ring. Eliminations occurred when a competitor was thrown over the top rope and both of their feet touched the floor.
The battle royal came down to four final participants: Tatum Paxley, Jordynne Grace, Izzi Dame, and Kendal Grey. The first of the four to be eliminated was Kendal Grey, who was tossed out by Izzi Dame. This left Paxley, Grace, and Dame as the final three competitors vying for the title opportunity.
The match reached its conclusion in an unexpected way. As Dame charged at Jordynne Grace, the momentum of her clothesline carried both competitors over the top rope and down to the floor. This resulted in a double elimination, leaving Tatum Paxley as the only wrestler remaining in the ring.
After the match, the NXT Women’s Champion, Jacy Jayne, appeared on the entrance stage with her group, Fatal Influence, to stare down the new number one contender. Following the confrontation, Lyra Valkyria ran to the ring to celebrate the victory with her friend, Tatum Paxley.
