WWE NXT’s new look and big changes start this week

Bryan Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Live that the new look for WWE NXT is coming this week. It had been previously reported that there are plans to introduce a new logo along with changes to the lighting and format of the show.

Alvarez also reported that the plan is to start taping shows in advance. The plan is to tape next Monday and Tuesday nights. Alvarez said that this taping schedule could be temporary but they are definitely taping several episodes after Takeover.

This is in line with what was reported last week by Dave Meltzer after Vince McMahon decided that changes were needed on the brand.

The idea is to revert back to what NXT was several years ago when it was a true developmental brand and McMahon wants to focus on signing younger wrestlers and he wants to focus on signing wrestlers that look like they can headline a WrestleMania. In other words, McMahon wants bigger wrestlers and he wants them to learn the WWE style and wrestle less like what is seen on the independent scene.
