WWE is staying the course with their plans for Roman Reigns. The battle plan is still for Brock Lesnar to defend the WWE title against John Cena at the Royal Rumble and then for Roman Reigns to wind up as champion at WrestleMania.
WWE is making it clear that Cena is being primed for champion emeritus. They are calling attention to the fact that he’s at the tail end of his run and WWE is giving Reigns new nicknames like “The Juggernaut” and “The Big Dog” and is being groomed to be in the top spot.
Company plans for the top of the card are usually pretty obvious by December but this plan was obvious earlier. Last year was an exception because the company didn’t expect the crowd to turn on Batista, Punk leaving the company, and Daniel Bryan’s emergence.
