WWE NXT UK Women's Champion Toni Storm was supposed to wrestle Bea Priestley in a match at an upcoming Stardom event that was scheduled to take place on May 16th.

However, that match has been canceled due to “circumstances beyond our control.” The promotion issued the following statement on their official Twitter account:

“For the upcoming Korakuen Hall show on May 16, the previously announced match between Toni Storm and Bea Priestley will not take place due to circumstances beyond our control. Thank you for understanding.”

It turns out that there is more to this story as Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported during a recent episode of WOR with Bryan Alvarez that WWE decided to shut down the upcoming match. The reason for this is WWE not wanting their champion to lose to Priestley, who is a new AEW signee.

Instead of working out a finish that would’ve been a double DQ or count out to avoid their being a winner and loser, WWE just nixed the match. Priestley signed with AEW back in February will be making her debut at Fight for the Fallen on July 13, 2019 against an opponent that has yet to be announced.
