On this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE continued to tease that Dean Ambrose would turn on his brothers in The Shield. At the start of the show, Braun Strowman gave Ambrose a choice. He could either face Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship, Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship or he could face Braun Strowman.
Corbin made the decision for Ambrose and he decided that he would face Strowman. Reigns and Rollins ran down to the ring late in the match and they took out Strowman, which meant that Ambrose lost the match via disqualification.
Corbin then set up a non-title match between Reigns and Dolph Ziggler. Moments later during a backstage segment, Ambrose told Rollins that he could be the Intercontinental Champion right now. Later in the show, after Reigns defeated Ziggler, Ambrose said he could have been the Universal Champion if he wasn't such a nice guy.
For whatever it's worth, Ambrose was supposed to turn on Reigns and Rollins last year before Ambrose was sidelined with his injury. The plan at the time, as reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, was for Ambrose vs. Rollins at WrestleMania. Another reason why WWE has gone so heavy with the Ambrose heel teases is that they wanted a hook for the match on Saturday since the Universal Championship won't be on the line until the Crown Jewel show on 11/2.
We could know more on Ambrose as soon as Saturday when The Shield takes on Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre at Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Australia.
