Tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured the final, tense confrontation between the two couples set to main event the upcoming Wrestlepalooza premium live event. The in-ring segment saw CM Punk and AJ Lee go face-to-face with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch, and it ended with a physical altercation that left Lee and Punk down in the ring.
The segment began with CM Punk and AJ Lee making their entrance. Punk started on the microphone, introducing himself as “AJ’s husband” and addressing Rollins and Lynch as “you goofs.” He questioned whether their egos would get in the way at Wrestlepalooza.
Seth Rollins responded, calling Punk “the most selfish human being he’s ever met.” He then turned his attention to Lee, calling her the “best decision Punk ever made” in his personal life, but warned that Punk would “regret introducing Lee to their feud for the rest of his days.”
AJ Lee took the microphone and stated that it was Rollins who brought her back into the fold when he “used his wife as a human shield” at Clash in Paris. Lynch then interjected, saying she read Lee’s book and had some notes. Lynch pointed out that Lee wrote extensively about the damage to her neck and said that Lee isn’t an “asset; she’s a liability.”
Lee sarcastically thanked Lynch for reading her book, adding, “I did not read yours.” She then addressed the neck injury directly. “She said Lynch was right; she doesn’t know how her neck will hold up. Lee said she won two titles despite her damaged neck. Lee said Lynch should be worried that she doesn’t know what she will do next,” the recap noted. “Lee conceded that she’s erratic. Lee said you can’t plan for something she can’t predict.”
Rollins then addressed Lee directly. “Listen, little girl, you’re not wrong,” he said. “I may not be able to predict you, but your husband, I can read him like a book… He has a nasty habit of leaving when things let him down. So, this Saturday, when my wife rips you into shreds, you better hope to God that he doesn’t leave you too.”
In response, AJ Lee slapped Seth Rollins across the face. As Rollins reeled from the slap, he told Lynch, who had been asking “Me?,” to handle it. An argument then broke out between Rollins and Lynch, with Rollins telling her it was her fault and Lynch yelling from the floor that Rollins “got them into this.”
With Lynch on the outside, Rollins shoved Punk, who chased him from the ring. This left Lee alone, and Lynch took the opportunity to slide back in and hit Lee with a Manhandle Slam. Lynch then slapped the kneeling CM Punk across the face before leaving the ring to celebrate with her husband on the ramp as the segment ended. Click here for complete WWE Raw results.
