WWE Raw Preview (5/12): Punk Appearance, Uso Speaks, Big Matches After Backlash!

The WWE Universe braces for an explosive edition of Monday Night Raw tonight, May 12, 2025, emanating live as the official fallout episode from last Saturday’s dramatic Backlash Premium Live Event. Several key matches are scheduled, and major Superstars like CM Punk and World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso are set to address the fallout from a turbulent weekend.

All eyes will be on CM Punk as he makes his announced appearance. After Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena retained his title against Randy Orton at Backlash, Punk took to social media with a cryptic “for now…” message directed at Cena. What will the “Best in the World” have to say tonight, and will he directly address his championship aspirations involving his old rival?

World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso is also scheduled to speak to the WWE Universe. Following his successful, albeit chaotic, title defense against Logan Paul at Backlash – a match that saw interference and high drama – “Main Event” Jey will likely address the controversial victory, his challenger, and possibly the actions of John Cena who was heavily involved in the lead-up.

The in-ring action promises to be intense. After being robbed of the Intercontinental Championship by Dominik Mysterio at Backlash due to El Grande Americano’s interference, Penta El Zero Miedo will look to unleash his frustrations on Chad Gable in a highly anticipated singles match. Both men will be looking to make a statement.

In another compelling singles encounter, AJ Styles is set to collide with Finn Balor of The Judgment Day. With The Judgment Day always a factor, Styles will need to be at the top of his game.

Tag team wrestling will also be showcased as The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) go to battle against American Made (Julius Creed and Brutus Creed). This match could have significant implications for the Raw tag team division hierarchy.

A blockbuster women’s tag team match is also on tap, as Women’s World Champion IYO SKY teams up with former champion Rhea Ripley to take on the formidable NXT duo of Roxanne Perez and Giulia. This cross-brand dream team match could steal the show and hint at future championship pursuits.

With the dust still settling from Backlash – including injury updates on stars like Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest, and the shocking debut of Jeff Cobb with The Bloodline on SmackDown – tonight’s Raw is poised to be a pivotal episode, setting the stage for new rivalries and the next chapter in WWE.
