WWE Raw Writer Gets A New Promotion

WWE has continued its recent series of internal promotions within the creative department, with Kirsten Koedding confirming that she has been elevated to the role of writer/producer for Monday Night Raw. Koedding, who originally joined the company in August 2023 as a writer’s assistant, shared the news via LinkedIn, noting her pride in the 2.5-year journey that led to her new position.

A 2020 graduate of Quinnipiac University, she previously held roles with various media studios before transitioning into the professional wrestling industry. Koedding’s promotion comes in the wake of Alexandra Williams being named Vice President and Lead Writer of Monday Night Raw on March 5.

Williams, who has been with WWE since 2020, previously served as a senior writer and producer. In her new executive role, she oversees the entire creative development for the flagship brand, which now streams weekly on Netflix. Williams collaborates directly with executive leadership to conceptualize long-form narrative strategies and character arcs leading into major events like WrestleMania 42.

A New Creative Era for Monday Night Raw

The timing of these promotions follows a leadership shift on the SmackDown side of the creative team. Brian “Road Dogg” James, who served as co-lead writer for the blue brand, officially resigned from the company last week.

Reports indicate that James chose to step away after feeling unhappy with the feedback received during his annual performance review. His departure ends a decade-long tenure within the creative system, though he reportedly remains under a WWE Legends deal.

The personnel changes arrive as WWE navigates several creative pivots heading into WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The recent decision to put the Undisputed WWE Championship back on Cody Rhodes following his victory over Drew McIntyre on the March 6 episode of SmackDown has changed up the lineup. Rhodes is now set to defend his title against Randy Orton, while CM Punk is scheduled to face Roman Reigns in a World Title match.
