Following last night’s WWE NXT show, there was a special goodbye for referee Jessika Carr. She is leaving the brand and will now be working on Friday Night SmackDown.
This is well-deserved as everyone knows how hard she has worked and she has helped to pave the way for future women in the industry.
AEW referee Aubrey Edwards congratulated Carr via Twitter. She wrote, “THIS IS SO WELL DESERVED! CONGRATS @WWELadyRefJess! Love you Zebra sister! Now I can watch you live on TV again since we’re aren’t on the same night anymore! 😘”
WWE credits Carr as being the first female referee in the company. If you are talking about modern history, that is true but Rita Chatterton refereed matches in the World Wrestling Federation in the 1980s so she would be the first female referee in the company.
