It was a hectic week for a lot of people in WWE as dozens of former employees are now out of a job due to budget cuts and a desire to consolidate redundant jobs. Some of the people let go have been with the company for many years.
Wrestlenomics reports that 60 or more people were laid off this week. The cuts covered different departments but it was the digital side of things that was hit the hardest with several employees from the WWE Network being let go and others from the WWE Studios division. WWE announcer Tom Phillips was let go today just weeks after he was replaced by Adnan Virk, who was also let go and replaced by Jimmy Smith.
The firings have left many in the company shell shocked and one has to wonder if there are more to come as WWE President Nick Khan continues to clean house.
There is concern among the United Kingdom talent because the word is that there are NXT UK talent that will be on the chopping block soon. There’s no word on when those releases will happen.
