WWE Remains Hopeful to Have Drew McIntyre Back on TV Shortly

Drew McIntyre and WWE continue to work out creative for his impending return to television.

McIntyre hasn’t been seen since WrestleMania 39, where he worked a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Title with Sheamus and GUNTHER.

As previously reported, McIntyre hasn’t been happy with the creative direction of his character, and both sides are far apart on terms for a new deal. He took time off after Mania due to an injury that is now healed. His current deal expires in early 2024, although WWE is likely to add time to his deal to make up for the time he’s been out with an injury.

WWE creative has held up his return, although a previous report stated WWE pushed creative to have him back in the storyline mix by Money in the Bank weekend, which happens on June 30 and July 1. There were recent meetings regarding pitches for McIntyre. They want him on those shows due to him being one of WWE’s biggest European stars.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “McIntyre may be back shortly” as the company is hopeful of getting him to return for Money in the Bank.

Meltzer noted that nothing is official as of this time “past they are discussing dates for a return, but creative was not finalized at press time.”

McIntyre represented WWE this past week at the Special Olympics in Berlin, Germany, where he has been a Global Ambassador for the Special Olympics since 2021.
