When you’re doing a great list of missed opportunities in pro wrestling years from now, Bayley’s name could be on top of that list. The fact is Bayley’s WWE debut was long overdue when it finally happened, and she came in with a lot of fanfare but was quickly mishandled outside of her comfort zone in NXT.
WWE hasn’t done much to help Bayley’s character come along recently either and Dave Meltzer recently said WWE gave up on The Hugger a long time ago when he opened up about the subject during Wrestling Observer Radio.
“They have already given up on her. And they’ve given up on her a long long time ago. When they’re gonna protect Mickie James over you when Mickie James was brought in to be a filler to lose on the roster, that just tells you. The dice has been cast with her already.”
It really is a shame Bayley has been treated this way. She loves the business and obviously has a passion to perform. But alas, that might not matter in the eyes of WWE management who could favor other female performers over The Hugger. After all, there are plenty of other people to go with at this point and even more could be on the way from NXT sooner than later.
It would be nice for Bayley to turn it around, but if what Meltzer said is true, then it might be a long time before she gets another good look. But you can never say never in pro wrestling.
