WWE Reportedly Has Significant Interest In AEW Star Powerhouse Hobbs

According to a recent report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has expressed strong interest in signing All Elite Wrestling star Powerhouse Hobbs.

During a discussion regarding talent contracts and potential movement between promotions, Meltzer noted that Hobbs is high on WWE’s radar. While discussing the current wrestling landscape with co-host Garrett Gonzales and guest John Pollock, Meltzer revealed that there are influential figures within WWE who are advocating for Hobbs.

“I know that those in WWE really, they really want him,” Meltzer stated. “There’s people very behind him that are very high in him, in WWE”.

Contract Details

Regarding the specific status of Hobbs’ current contract with AEW, details remain unclear. When asked about the expiration date of Hobbs’ deal, Meltzer noted that while the timeline is unknown, the star is expected to field offers when the time comes.

“Hobbs deal, I don’t know when that’s up, but you know, he’ll definitely get offers,” Meltzer said.

Recent Performance and Physical Condition

The panel also discussed Hobbs’ recent appearance at the AEW World’s End pay-per-view. Garrett Gonzales highlighted Hobbs’ physical presentation during the event, noting that the wrestler appeared to be in peak condition.

“We all noticed as well, when he was in the match At World’s End, he was, he was in fighting shape there, like he, he looked the best that I’d seen him,” Gonzales observed.

Powerhouse Hobbs (Will Hobson) has been a fixture in AEW since 2020. He gained initial popularity as a member of Team Taz alongside Ricky Starks, Brian Cage, and Hook. Since then, he has been featured in high-profile storylines, including a run as the TNT Champion and a prominent spot within the Don Callis Family stable. Known for his impressive size, strength, and agility (notably his signature spinebuster), Hobbs fits the traditional mold of a “heavyweight” superstar that WWE has historically prioritized.

As the wrestling industry enters a period of high business metrics and fluid talent rosters, Hobbs appears to be a name to watch closely in the coming future.
