WWE Reportedly Still Open To Working With Tony Hinchcliffe

While the planned “WWE Late Night” event for SummerSlam weekend has been canceled, the working relationship between WWE and controversial comedian Tony Hinchcliffe is reportedly not over. A new report indicates the door remains open for future collaborations.

‘WWE Late Night’ Canceled, Relationship Still Good

According to a report from Fightful Select, the untelevised “WWE Late Night” show, which was scheduled for August 2 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, was canceled due to “light” ticket sales. The relationship between WWE and Hinchcliffe is “still good” and that the company is “still open” to working with him again in the future.

A Controversial Collaboration

WWE and Hinchcliffe first worked together earlier this year when he hosted the “Roast of WrestleMania” following Night Two of WrestleMania 41. The event proved to be controversial due to several offensive jokes made during the broadcast. Hinchcliffe also made a one-off appearance on the April 7 episode of Monday Night Raw, where his brief spell on commentary was reportedly considered a dud internally.

While the Hinchcliffe-hosted event is no longer happening, SummerSlam weekend will still feature a major celebrity presence. Rapper Cardi B is set to host the two-night premium live event, while country music star Jelly Roll will make his in-ring debut, teaming with Randy Orton to face Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.
