WWE responds to racism allegations, text from Titus O’Neil made public

The New York Post has obtained a statement from WWE after some fans ripped the company over the suspension of Titus O’Neil. Some fans have alleged that the suspension was racially motivated. In a statement to the Post, WWE said, “The suspension of Titus O’Neil had nothing to do with race and everything to do with unprofessional conduct.”

WWE followed up by sending in a copy of the text message they said they received from O’Neil, “I feel like sh** now so if you have to let me go, I understand. Stupid mistake.”

O’Neil is known for his charity work and, by all accounts, is well-liked backstage by his peers so it is not a surprise to see outrage from fans and disappointment from people within the industry. As noted on Wednesday night, his suspension was originally for 90 days but it was later reduced to 60 days. If the 60-day suspension is upheld then that means he will miss out on WrestleMania and the biggest payday of the year.
