The WWE Championship was on the line as Daniel Bryan defended against AJ Styles at this year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view in Phoenix, AZ.
It took a long time for this match to kick into another gear so the crowd was quiet for about 15 minutes. Late in the match, Erick Rowan made his way down to the ringside area. Bryan went for a kick to the head but ended up knocking out the referee. Styles hit a Styles Clash but the ref was out, Rowan hit a chokeslam on Styles.
Bryan pinned Styles to retain his title. It looks like Bryan and Rowan are aligned. Perhaps, this is the start of a new stable.
