Kevin Owens retained the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble PPV. As per the match stipulation, Chris Jericho was suspended over the ring in a shark cage. Weapons (tables, chairs, steps, etc) were used since it was also a No DQ match. Jericho didn’t go in the cage immediately because he and Owens attacked Reigns before the match got started but Reigns fought back and locked Jericho in the cage. Towards the end of the match, Jericho dropped brass knuckles to Owens.
Reigns hit a powerbomb through a table at ringside and was about to put Owens away but Braun Stowman appeared. Strowman chokeslammed Reigns on one of the announce tables and then did a running slam on Roman through a table that was set up in the corner of the ring. Owens got the pin and retained.
