WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Nearly Went Over Time

WWE hosted its second Saturday Night’s Main Event special as part of the current agreement between WWE and NBCU. During this time, WWE avoided a major issue.

The main event of the show was WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER vs. Jey Uso. The top bouts included were WWE Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker vs. Sheamus and Jacob Fatu vs. Braun Strowman.

Also on tap was Shawn Michaels appearing as the moderator of the contract signing between Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens for the Royal Rumble match.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that the show was initially looking like it would be going over time, but finished right at the top of the hour. It’s unclear when the next special will be, although WWE is contractually obligated to host four a year.
