WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Preview: Start Time, Card And How To Watch

WWE runs Saturday Night’s Main Event tonight from Madison Square Garden in New York City, and the tag team main event carries stakes that reach all the way to SummerSlam.

Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk teams with Cody Rhodes against Gunther and Sami Zayn. Michael Cole confirmed the match will close the show. On SmackDown, WWE added a stipulation: if Gunther and Zayn win, they are added to the Punk vs. Rhodes SummerSlam title match to make it a Fatal Four-Way.

The story that got here has been tangled. Punk stepped in for Rhodes on the July 6 Raw after Gunther attacked him, then beat Zayn for the title. Rhodes is now Punk’s SummerSlam challenger, while Gunther and Zayn are fighting to insert themselves into that match, all with Punk and Rhodes forced to work as partners first.

World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns is also advertised, joined by New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, who recently led the franchise to its first NBA title since 1973. With Reigns set to defend against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, the segment leaves the door open for Rollins to interrupt.

Three other matches are announced. Danhausen faces JD McDonagh in a No Disqualification match, his first time competing at the venue. Paige and Brie Bella defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against the Fatal Influence pairing of Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid, with stablemate Jacy Jayne a factor at ringside. And Bayley meets Lyra Valkyria after Valkyria turned on her former tag team partner.

Saturday Night’s Main Event airs live at 8 p.m. Eastern on Peacock. SummerSlam follows on August 1 and 2 in Minneapolis.
