WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Results: Cody Rhodes Retains WWE Title In Questionable Finish

Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship took place at the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event from in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Delta Center. The stipulation was that if Rhodes got counted out or DQ’d, he would lose the title.  

They went back and forth in the early going. Drew cheated by racking the eyes of Cody before Cody fought back with right hands. Drew took over with a belly-to-belly suplex then beat him down as the fans tried to get Cody into this one. Cody fought back with a spring board head kick. 

Cody hit a cody cutter for 2. They traded near falls. Drew brought the title into the ring, but tossed it to Cody and Cody tossed it down, leading to McIntyre hitting a claymore kick for 2. Drew went for a claymore into the announce table, but Cody countered it with a strike. Drew tackled Cody off the apron through the announce table. Cody broke the count. Drew missed the claymore kick and Cody’s leg buckled as he climbed the ropes. Cody hit a super cutter for 2. Cody accidentally took out the referee. Cody with a DDT onto the title and he tossed it to the floor. The referee got up and Cody with the crossrhodes to Drew for the win. 

Winner: Cody Rhodes retains
