WWE Says Dominik Mysterio Will Be Out Of Action Indefinitely

WWE announced during tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw that Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio is out of action indefinitely due to a shoulder injury.

During the broadcast, Joe Tessitore confirmed the news, stating that the injury was sustained during a recent match for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide in Mexico. While WWE did not provide a specific timeline for his return, the “indefinite” status suggests the issue may be significant enough to impact his participation in the upcoming Royal Rumble.

The injury occurred on December 20 at AAA’s Guerra de Titanes event in Guadalajara. Dominik was competing in a tag team match, partnering with El Grande Americano against Rey Fenix and his father, Rey Mysterio.

According to reports from the Wrestling Observer and other outlets, the injury happened in the closing moments of the match when Dominik took a DDT from Rey Mysterio. Fans in attendance noted that Dominik immediately favored his arm and appeared unable to lift it following the spot. Despite the injury, he finished the match, which concluded with Rey Mysterio pinning him after interference from Penta.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer initially reported that the injury was believed to be a separated shoulder.

While Dominik was reportedly in “good spirits” backstage earlier in the week, there has been internal fear that surgery might be required. If surgery is necessary, that would mean that he could be sidelined for months, potentially missing WrestleMania 42.

WWE had already pulled Dominik from the post-Christmas holiday live event tour as a precaution. His absence leaves a significant hole in the Raw midcard, as he has been a central figure in The Judgment Day and the reigning Intercontinental Champion heading into 2026.
