WWE says Drew McIntyre may have suffered a career-threatening injury

There were multiple segments with Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton this week on WWE Monday Night Raw.

After the opening in-ring segment, Randy Orton attacked McIntyre by the stage and the backstage area and he hit McIntyre twice with he punk kick.

McIntyre got some revenge on Orton later in the show when he ran in during Orton’s match with Keith Lee but Orton attacked McIntyre backstage again and punt kicked him.

It was announced by WWE that McIntyre may have suffered a career-ending skull fracture. Obviously, that is just a storyline injury but it looks like, at least as of now, the WWE Championship rematch is not happening this Sunday at the Payback pay-per-view.

In a follow-up segment, McIntyre was taken away in an ambulance and Charly Caruso said that he would undergo more evaluations. It was also announced that Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton will happen this Sunday at Payback.

As noted earlier, Vince McMahon ripped up the Raw script and changes were being made during Raw so this may have been one of the changes. We’ll pass along more information when we hear more on the real reason why McIntyre was pulled from Payback.

Here is the card so far for WWE Payback on Sunday:

WWE Universal Championship – Triple Threat No Holds Barred Match
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (Champion) vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman

Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Bayley and Sasha Banks (Champions) vs. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax

WWE United States Championship
Apollo Crews (Champion) vs. Bobby Lashley

WWE Payback airs this Sunday at 7 pm eastern on the WWE Network. The show will take inside the ThunderDome in the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
