WWE Shop Account Seemingly Spoils The Return Of AJ Lee

The official WWE Shop social media account appears to have accidentally confirmed one of the most anticipated returns in recent memory. In a now-deleted post, the account seemingly spoiled the impending in-ring return of former Divas Champion AJ Lee. The post, which was a reply to a fan, indicated that new merchandise is being prepared for her comeback at the upcoming Wrestlepalooza premium live event.

The incident occurred when a fan on X tagged the WWE Shop account in a post, jokingly asking where they could find new AJ Lee merchandise to wear for the upcoming SmackDown in Chicago. The fan was likely not expecting a direct response, and certainly not one that would confirm the comeback that has been rumored for days. The WWE Shop account replied, stating that new merchandise was in the works for her return.

“With AJ Lee’s return to the ring, we are looking to have some [fire] gear hopefully in time for Wrestlepalooza,” the now-deleted tweet read. The post was removed moments after it was shared, but not before fans were able to capture screenshots, which have since been shared widely across social media.

The return of AJ Lee has been heavily rumored since the main event of the Clash in Paris premium live event this past Sunday. In that match, Becky Lynch interfered to help her husband, Seth Rollins, defeat Lee’s husband, CM Punk, to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. The angle immediately led to widespread speculation that Lee would return to even the odds, setting up a mixed tag team match between the two couples. For more on the expected match, click here.

If and when her return is made official on WWE programming, it will be her first time competing in a ring in over a decade. Her last match took place on the episode of Monday Night Raw following WrestleMania 31 in March 2015. It is expected that CM Punk will address the situation on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
