WWE SmackDown 7/23/21 ratings drop against Olympics coverage

The latest edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown saw its ratings drop.

Friday’s show averaged 2.137 million viewers on FOX, which is down from last week’s show that did 2.310 million viewers, according to PWTorch.

In the all-important 18-49 demographic, the show did a 0.55 rating, down from the 0.66 rating last week. NBC’s Olympics coverage was expected to draw viewers away from not only WWE, but all TV shows, and did just that.

Last week’s show was the highest viewership number the show had done since January 22nd with 2.383 million viewers.

In the male 18-49 demo, it drew 0.66, down from 0.93 while in the 18-34 male demo, it drew 0.40, down from 0.60.

This was the second show with fans in attendance in over a year and the fallout show for Sunday’s Money in the Bank PPV event.

The episode featured Big E vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews in a non-title match, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defending against Carmella, Toni Storm’s debut, John Cena appearance, and more.
