WWE has made the decision to cancel SmackDown in Detroit this Friday. The show will be moved to the Performance Center in Orlando, the same place where this week’s episode of NXT took place.
The decision was made this afternoon due to the coronavirus outbreak and an email was sent out to the talent shortly after. PWInsider also reported the news.
An official announcement from WWE is coming shortly. There is no word what this means for Monday Night Raw or other shows going forward.
There is still no official word on plans for WrestleMania in Tampa but city officials will have discussions tomorrow at noon to figure out what to do with large scale events.
UPDATE: WWE issued the following statement:
“WWE has not cancelled Friday Night SmackDown in Detroit, however, based on the current situation, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that upcoming WWE shows are cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues.”
