WWE SmackDown transitions to a three-hour format starting tonight, broadcasting live from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The expanded runtime on the USA Network features a card highlighted by a gimmick match stipulation and a significant multi-woman tag team bout involving several champions and top contenders.
Ambulance Match: Damian Priest vs. Aleister Black
Damian Priest and Aleister Black are scheduled to compete in an Ambulance Match. The stipulation dictates that there are no pinfalls, submissions, count-outs, or disqualifications; the only way to win is to force the opponent into the back of an ambulance and close the doors.
8-Woman Tag Team Match: RHIYO (Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY), Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax, Lash Legend & The Kabuki Warriors
Following the events of the December 26 episode, eight of the division’s prominent competitors will face off in tag team action. Last week, Charlotte Flair defeated Lash Legend in singles competition. Following that match, Alexa Bliss attacked Nia Jax at ringside, leading to a confrontation that drew out Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, and The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane). Tonight, the sides align formally as Flair, Bliss, Ripley, and SKY take on the team of Jax, Legend, Asuka, and Sane.
Cody Rhodes Addresses Drew McIntyre’s Challenge
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is advertised to appear live. This follows last week’s broadcast where Drew McIntyre officially challenged Rhodes to a “Three Stages of Hell” match for the title. McIntyre proposed the match take place on the January 9 episode of SmackDown in Berlin, Germany. Rhodes is expected to respond to the stipulation and the upcoming title defense tonight.
In singles action, Jade Cargill was scheduled to face Michin. However, Michin was pulled off the road due to an injury. No word yet on the status of the match and if there will be a replacement for Michin. Click here for more details.
