WWE SmackDown Live 7/26/16 results: New WWE title contender for SummerSlam

Welcome to the WWE SmackDown Pre-Show, and we are live on the WWE Network. Daniel Bryan will be on the Pre-Show via Skype. Scott Stanford, Jerry Lawler and Lita hype what we will see tonight, which is a #1 contender for the WWE Title being announced. The panel teased that AJ Styles could be the #1 contender. A video package to hype Mojo Rawley was shown. Daniel Bryan announced on the SmackDown Pre-Show that The Miz would interview a former WWE Champion on Miz TV, and Natalya would wrestle Becky Lynch on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

Welcome to Tuesday Night SmackDown. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan is in the gorilla position to start the show and then they walk out to the ring with the Superstars in the ring. Shane and Daniel said that this show is all about the fans. Shane announced the first SmackDown PPV will be Backlash and will take place on September 11th. Shane then brought out Dean Ambrose. Ambrose cut a promo about how he has the SmackDown live fever and is ready for his next challenger. Bryan announced that there would be a six-pack #1 contender’s match tonight. The winner of the match will face Ambrose at SummerSlam. The competitors are John Cena, AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, AJ Styles. Bryan announced that the sixth person in the six-pack challenge would be determined by the winner of a battle royal that starts next.

-Commercial Break-

Battle Royal: Zack Ryder, Kane, Konnor, Viktor, Mojo Rawley, Simon Gotch, Aiden English, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Kalisto, Erick Rowan, Tyler Breeze, Fandango, Apollo Crews, Alberto Del Rio.

Kane eliminated Gotch first. Kane followed up by eliminated The Ascension at the same time. Del Rio caught Kane with a big head kick in the corner while Jey Usos hit a superkick to English and Ryder. Fandango sent Jey Uso over the top rope to the floor.

-Commercial Break-

English and Rowan was eliminated during the commercial break. Del Rio kicked out Rawley for a elimination. Del Rio with a clothesline to Ryder and a back stabber to Crews. Ryder and Crews popped up and eliminated Del Rio. Kane eliminated Breeze and Fandango. Final four was Kane, Kalisto, Ryder, and Crews. Ryder with a drop kick to Kane, Crews with a moonsault to Kane and Kalisto with a springboard dive to Kane. Kalisto hit his finisher on Crews, and Ryder botched an elbow drop to Crews. Kane popped up and eliminated Kalisto. Kane with a big boot to Crews. Ryder with a Broski Boot to Kane and Crews. Kane caught Ryder and eliminated him. Kane went for a chokeslam, but Crews blocked it and eliminated Kane.

Winner: Crews.

Crews said that he was the happiest man alive in a post-match promo. Crews plans on challenging Ambrose for the WWE Title at SummerSlam.

-Commercial Break-

WWE announced that Shelton Benjamin would be returning to SmackDown soon.

Singles Match: Natalya vs. Becky Lynch.

They lock up, and Lynch hit a drop kick. Lynch missed a splash in the corner, but she fought back with some elbows. Lynch went to the top rope, but Natalya dragged her down.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Lynch in control of Natalya. Lynch hit a leg drop off the middle rope for 2. Natalya hit a suplex to cut her off. Lynch rolled her up for 1 then went for the Disarmer, but Natalya blocked and went for the Sharpshooter. Lynch blocked that, and Natalya hit a clothesline for 2. Lynch reversed and locked in the Disarmer for the win.

Winner: Lynch.

Lynch was about to do a promo, but Alexa Bliss walked out. Bliss said that she is the hottest Superstar in the new era. Naomi returned and said that Bliss shouldn’t talk because she hasn’t competed against her. Carmella walked out and introduced herself. Carmella told the fans to get their popcorn ready. Eva Marie then walked out with a new entrance and said nothing. This ended this segment.

-Commercial Break-

The Miz and Maryse walked down to the ring for Miz TV. Miz talked about how everyone can be proud of him because they can’t be proud of themselves. This led to Randy Orton walking out. Orton said that Miz is an expert with playing with himself. Miz hyped Orton’s match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Orton then challenged The Miz to a match tonight. Miz said no. Orton said that it would be a non-title match, and it would help him knock off some ring rust. Miz brought up beating him for the WWE Title then said no again. Orton asked him if he was afraid of getting his ass whipped in front of his wife. Maryse said that Miz accepts a match with Orton.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Randy Orton vs. The Miz.

They lock up, and Miz sent him to the floor then into the barricade. Miz with a big boot once back into the ring. Orton then hit an RKO out of nowhere but did not cover him. Orton hit another RKO for the win.

Winner: Orton.

-Commercial Break-

There was a video package to hype American Alpha’s main roster debut for next week.

There was supposed to be a squash match, but Heath Slater walked out and attacked the jobber. Slater then cut a promo about how he couldn’t be drafted to either RAW or SmackDown. Shane McMahon walked out, and the hottest free agent was standing behind him. Rhyno hit Slater with a gore in the ring.

AJ Styles cut a promo backstage about Shane and Daniel not drafting the club and then putting him in a qualifying match. Styles promised to win the six-package and then go onto to face Ambrose at SummerSlam.

-Commercial Break-

Six-Pack Challenge: John Cena vs. AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin vs. Apollo Crews vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Dolph Ziggler.

They start brawling and then we cut to break.

-Commercial Break-

Wyatt hits a clothesline to Styles, but Styles fought back and hit a splash off the top rope to Wyatt. Cena broke up the pin. Corbin hit a big right hand to Ziggler at ringside. Styles hit a suplex to Cena and Crews started hitting german suplexes to Styles. Corbin with an STO to Crews for 2. Crews hit a german suplex to Corbin, and we cut to break.

-Commercial Break-

Crews hit a sitdown powerbomb on Corbin, but Wyatt pulled out the referee. Wyatt did his creepy walk and then hit Sister Abigail to Crews. Ziggler hit a Zig-Zag to Wyatt, but there was no referee. Cena hit an AA on Ziggler. Styles kicked Wyatt in the face, and Cena hit an AA to Styles for 2. Crews went for a crossbody on Cena, but Cena blocked it and hit an AA. Cena with an AA to Wyatt and then went for it on Corbin, but Corbin fought out. Cena countered and hit an AA. Styles with a springboard forearm to Cena. Ziggler with a superkick to AJ Styles for the win.

Winner: Ziggler.

Ambrose and Bryan walked down to the ring to congratulate Ziggler. All three men hold their hands up in the air. McMahon walked down to continue the celebration.
