WWE SmackDown Preview: Two Title Matches Set, Cody Rhodes To Appear

WWE presents Friday Night SmackDown tonight from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. The show will air live at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network. WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is set to appear live following his successful, yet controversial, title defense against Drew McIntyre at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Two Championship Matches

Two titles will be defended on tonight’s broadcast. Giulia will defend the Women’s United States Championship against Chelsea Green. Green, the first woman to ever hold the title, is aiming to become the first-ever two-time champion. Also, Men’s United States Champion Ilja Dragunov will issue another open challenge for his title.

Grudge Matches

In non-title action, Charlotte Flair is scheduled to face Nia Jax. Last week, Flair’s presence at ringside provided a distraction that allowed Alexa Bliss to defeat Jax. Rey Fenix will also be in action as he takes on Talla Tonga of The MFT.

Other Announced Appearances

The new WWE Women’s Champion, Jade Cargill, is advertised locally for tonight’s show. Cargill won the title from Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event. As of this writing, there has been no official word on whether Stratton will be in Greenville.
