MFT Car Accident:
The show opens outside the arena in the parking lot after a multi-car accident involving MFT. Adam Pearce handed Cody Rhodes his title contract for SummerSlam that he will be signing tonight.
Earlier today:
Charlotte Flair told Alexa Bliss she went to Adam Pearce and got them a tag team title match at SummerSlam against Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. Flair said she has a match later on tonight and she wants Bliss to be out there for her.
Charlotte Flair (w/Alexa Bliss) vs Raquel Rodriguez (w/Roxanne Perez)
As Charlotte was about to apply the figure-8 on Raquel, Roxanne got on the ring apron. Charlotte charged after Roxanne and gave her a kick to the head sending Roxanne to the mat. On the other side of the ring, Bliss draped Raquel’s throat against the ropes. Charlotte hit Raquel with a kick, rolled her up, and pinned her.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
Backstage:
The cops asked Adam Pearce where they could find Jacob Fatu as he is a person of interest in their investigation in the car accident. Pearce looked around and found Jacob. Jacob said he didn’t have anything to do with it as the cops walked him out of the backstage area.
Pre-tape interviews aired with Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill building up their SummerSlam match. Stratton said people doubted her but she has beaten everybody that she has faced. Jade said now that Naomi is out of the way, she will be able to beat Tiffany.
Earlier today:
Damian Priest was walking backstage. He came across Carmelo Hayes and asked him if he had seen Aleister Black. Carmelo said no, and even if I did, I wouldn’t say anything to you. Carmelo told Priest he warned him a few weeks ago this was going to happen. Priest said I will find Aleister, and when I find him, he will be on his knees praying for forgiveness. I will shut Aleister’s mouth and then go out and celebrate. Carmelo said you won’t have anything to celebrate because you won’t shut my mouth. Priest challenged Carmelo to a match tonight and Carmelo agreed to it.
Damian Priest vs Carmelo Hayes
Hayes and Priest were able to block a lot of each other’s moves. Priest got on the top rope to do the Old School. Aleister Black got on the ring apron and tripped Priest, causing the referee to call for the disqualification. Priest hit the Black Mass on Priest. Black turned around and stared at Hayes before Hayes decided to leave the ring.
Jacob Fatu gets revenge:
Solo Sikoa said tonight is the perfect example of what Jacob Fatu is. He doesn’t care about anybody but himself. Once a criminal, always a criminal.
They cut backstage where the police returned backstage with Jacob and said he is not a person of interest. As Jacob was walking to the ring and the MFT getting ready for him, Jimmy Uso came on the other side of the ring and knocked Talla Tonga out of the ring. Jimmy and Jacob got in the ring and were getting the better of MFT until Talla recovered and hit Jimmy with a boot to the face. As Talla was getting ready to chokeslam Jimmy through the announce table, Jacob flew through the middle rope knocking Talla over the table. Jacob got in the ring and was hammering away at Solo.
Solo tried to leave the ring, but Jimmy threw him back in. Jacob put a chair on Solo and was getting ready to give him the hip attack when MFT recovered, but to no avail. Jimmy gave Tama Tonga a splash off the top rope and Jacob hit JC Mateo with a moonsault. Jacob began hitting Tama and JC with a chair while Solo and Talla looked on outside the ring.
Adam Page came out and ordered Solo Sikoa to defend his United States Championship at SummerSlam against Jacob Fatu inside a steel cage. Pearce then called the cops out and they handcuffed Solo.
Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre brawl on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
They replayed the brawl between Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre on Jimmy Kimmel Live which Jelly Roll hosted. After they brawled to the back, Logan Paul came out and slapped Jelly Roll. Jelly Roll retaliated by giving Logan a chokeslam through the table.
Stephanie Vaquer vs Alba Fyre
Stephanie hit Alba with the Devil’s Kiss and SVB to pin Alba. After the match, Piper Niven attacked Stephanie. Piper went to the top rope, but Stephanie pushed her off the top rope and kicked her off the ring apron.
Winner: Stephanie Vaquer
Backstage:
The Street Profits said they will regain the tag team titles. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa told the Profits they blew it, but we are here to save the day as they are going to win the #1 contender’s match tonight.
Number one contender’s match: Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs. Andrade & Rey Fenix vs. DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) (w/Candice LeRae)
Candice LeRae got on the ring apron. A distracted Andrade got rolled up by Ciampa for a near fall. Ciampa held Andrade for Gargano to kick him, but Andrade ducked and the kick hit Ciampa. Andrade hit a spinning elbow on Gargano, sending him out of the ring. Andrade finished the match by hitting the Message on Ciampa and pinned him.
Winners: Andrade & Rey Fenix
John Cena – Cody Rhodes SummerSlam contract signing
Cody Rhodes said he didn’t flinch when any problems happened to him since returning to WWE except when he lost to John Cena. Adam Pearce introduced John Cena who came to the ring. Cena said he will not be at SummerSlam as he’s been making a film for Netflix. He is exhausted and it’s best that he doesn’t compete at SummerSlam. He told Cody he will get his rematch, but not at SummerSlam.
Cena left the ring and Cody chased after him and they brawled. Cena threw Cody against the ring steps and grabbed the belt. As he tried to hit Cody with it, Cody ducked, kicked Cena, and the belt flew into Cody’s hands. Cody hit Cena with the belt. Cody grabbed the contract, went to the top turnbuckle, and dove onto Cena through the table. With Cena out, Cody grabbed Cena’s hand, put the pen in it, and forced him to sign it. With Cena still out, Cody told him to read the contract because it’s not a regular fight, it’s a street fight at SummerSlam.
