WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Special Counsel Paul Heyman kicked off this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
Heyman introduced Reigns’ cousin Jey Uso, who will challenge for the Universal Championship at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view. Reigns said that the title has to stay on his shoulder and he will whoop Jey’s ass and then it will be “all love” after the match is over. The segment was then interrupted by Baron Corbin and Sheamus. This led to Jey issuing a challenge to Corbin and Sheamus and a tag team match was set for the main event segment. It was notable that Jey did not consult with Reigns before issuing the challenge.
Jey basically wrestled the match by himself because he was attacked by Corbin and Sheamus during his entrance. Reigns made his way down to the ring as Sheamus was about to end the match with the Brogue Kick but the distraction allowed Jey to take over on offense and Reigns tagged in at the last second to spear and pin Sheamus. After the match, Reigns posed on the stage and Jey held Reigns’ hand up but Reigns seemed bothered by that. It’s clear that big trouble is coming for Jey Uso at Clash of Champions.
