During an in-ring segment on WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Kevin Owens and Baron Corbin agreed to a match with special stipulations. Both agreed that if Corbin wins then he will get $1,000 from Owens but if Owens won then Corbin would have to stop begging people for money and he would need to take care of things on his own.
Kevin Owens won the match, which means that Corbin is no longer allowed to beg people for money. After the match, Owens left Corbin laying with a stunner.
This appears to be the continuation of plans to repackage Corbin. A couple of months ago, WWE trademarked “Happy Corbin” so it looks like they are doing something similar to the Diamond Dallas Page angle from the 90s. Page was portrayed as homeless and down on his luck but he slowly climbed up the ladder and became a top star.
Also on this week’s SmackDown, there was a must-see promo segment with John Cena and Roman Reigns. Also, a new Intercontinental Champion was crowned. Click here for more news from SmackDown.
UPDATE: During a backstage segment, Corbin spotted the Money In The Bank contract and then ran off with it.
