Matt Cardona has addressed his nine-match losing streak on SmackDown, making clear that he has no intention of letting a rough run derail what has been a hard-fought return to WWE.
Cardona posted on Twitter following his loss to Ricky Saints on the May 8 episode of SmackDown, the latest in a string of defeats since his return to the company.
“It took me almost 6 years to get back to WWE. You think losing some matches is going to stop me? LOL. It’s not over until I quit, and that’s never going to happen. I’M NOT FINISHED,” Cardona wrote.
Cardona made a one-off appearance in November 2025 as part of the tournament to determine John Cena’s final opponent before officially returning to SmackDown on the January 2 episode, where he defeated Kit Wilson in singles action. Since that opening victory, he has lost nine consecutive matches on SmackDown television, most recently falling to NXT call-up Ricky Saints.
His only other win since returning came on the March 19 edition of Main Event, where he teamed with Apollo Crews to defeat Nathan Frazer and Axiom. Cardona’s WWE return came after nearly six years away from the company. During his absence, he became one of the most prolific independent wrestling performers in the world, winning titles across dozens of promotions and building a significant fanbase outside of WWE.
He and his wife, Chelsea Green, are both currently on the SmackDown roster.
