Over the years, various wrestlers have told stories about coming up with ideas for gimmicks to be used on WWE television that management turned down.
However, a gimmick created by longtime WWE star Naomi connected with her so much that she never gave up on the idea. In fact, she continued to pitch WWE management about it for years before the company decided to give the green light.
Naomi shared in an interview with Civilian magazine that her “glow” gimmick was created towards the end of a heel run around the time that WWE did a draft in 2016.
“It took me two years to get that on TV. I had been pitching it literally for two years. I just knew that was me, and that was what kind of set me apart.”
Naomi made her first appearance on the all-women season of NXT in 2010 and since that time has made history by not only being a champion but also being the first woman to challenge for a WWE Women’s Championship in Saudi Arabia.
She did so when she lost to SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley at WWE Super ShowDown.
