Dragon Lee was a big signing for WWE as the company has high hopes for Lee, and the expectation is he will be fast-tracked to the main roster. The promotion reportedly thinks he could be the next great Mexican star, such as Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero.
After signing with WWE in December, Lee’s WWE start at the Performance Center was delayed due to him having visa issues. He worked his first WWE match at a house show earlier this month and made his TV debut a few weeks ago.
WWE NXT North American Champion Wes Lee vs. Dragon Lee vs. JD McDonaugh vs. Ilja Dragunov vs. Axiom in a Fatal 5-Way Match has been booked for Saturday’s Stand and Deliver special. This will be Lee’s in-ring TV debut.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Lee has a “much larger than usual NXT deal.” The terms of the contract are still unknown.
Meltzer previously reported that Lee signed with WWE after finding success in AAA and other promotions with the idea that he would be on the main roster within a year of signing with WWE and make the money he wanted.
