The card for WrestleMania 36 had to undergo several changes including a planned feud involving Bobby Lashley and Aleister Black.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Lashley missed out on building his match at the biggest event of the year for WWE due to concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic.
It was noted that Lashley was slated to be on the March 16th episode of Raw to be part of the build for the Black feud. That didn’t happen when he was quarantined after coming back from South Africa.
He was in the country the week before this episode of Raw in order to promote the WWE tour in May, which has now been moved to September due to the outbreak of the virus.
It’s been reported that this contest was taped earlier this week and is expected to air on the WrestleMania broadcast. As of this writing, there’s no word yet on which night the match will air.
With Lana being available on WWE television after filming for the “Cosmic Sin” sci-fi action movie with Bruce Willis in Georgia was put on hold, the call was to have Lashley back on the WrestleMania card.
Thus, when her availability was clear, WWE officials made the decision to move forward with Lashley vs. Black, which has had no build.
Lashley was last seen when he worked the March 9th episode of Raw by easily defeating Zack Ryder.
