WWE star off TV again and back on Main Event

Mustafa Ali is back wrestling on Main Event, a C-level WWE program, as he worked Monday’s taping in a match against T-Bar. This was just one day after he worked the Hell in a Cell event where he lost to United States Champion Theory.

He wrote on Twitter, “main event mustafa returns this week on @hulu #WWEMainEvent.”

This past January, Ali went public with his request to be released via a statement, but the company never intended to give him his release. Prior to that, Ali hadn’t been seen on WWE television since early November

WWE did have plans for him to start a “New America” storyline where Ali talked about being stereotyped, but the idea was nixed. There was reportedly something was pitched to him that he was adamant about not wanting to do and it led to him having a heated argument with Vince McMahon.

This past April, Ali made his return to TV on an episode of Raw when he interrupted a Miz TV segment that featured Theory. He’s feuded with the two stars up until now.

According to Cagematch.net, he’s gone 2-5 in his matches broadcasted on television and premium live events so far this year while in 2021, he had a record of 7-22. Ali losing so many matches is a sign that McMahon has no confidence in Ali and a pattern that the WWE Chairman has followed for decades.

Ali still has years left on his current WWE deal and the company will likely add time to it for the months he was away while waiting for his release. He recently addressed why he wanted out of WWE during an appearance on “After The Bell.”
