As was written about earlier, the WWE World Cup kicks off tonight on Friday Night SmackDown. Among the names locked in is someone who has been off TV since July.

The names set for the tournament: Braun Strowman, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn, Santos Escobar, Rey Mysterio, Butch, Ricochet, and the returning Jinder Mahal.

Mahal was involved in a storyline with Shanky but the story was dropped when Vince McMahon resigned from his position as the CEO of the company. Mahal and Shanky had been wrestling on house shows during that time but the last time either man wrestled was back in July. It looks like there are plans to use Mahal on TV again.

The following is set for tonight's SmackDown on FOX:

- The Usos will defend against The New Day. If The Usos win then they will break The New Day's title reign record.

- Santos Escobar vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in the World Cup first round

- Six-Pack Challenge to determine the next challenger for Ronda Rousey's SmackDown Women's Title. The competitors are Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Shotzi, Sonya Deville, Lacey Evans, and Xia Li.
