WWE star says his promos will be unscripted on the main roster

As previously noted, the WWE Draft will include wrestlers from NXT 2.0 moving to the main roster. While there are exceptions, oftentimes when wrestlers move up to the main roster, Vince McMahon will make changes to their character and many of the wrestlers of the main roster are given heavily scripted promos. The idea of wrestlers moving up from NXT to the main roster is a concern for some fans who worry about someone who was treated like a star being watered down on Raw or SmackDown.

AJ Francis (aka Top Dolla) wants fans to know that the same thing is not going to happen to Hit Row. Top Dolla says that their debut promo (during a dark segment before SmackDown) was not scripted and he wants fans not to compare Hit Row to “other people who couldn’t transition to the main roster.”

He tweeted, “Stop comparing us to other people who couldn’t transition to the main roster. We can promo. Thanks, Management”

In a follow-up tweet he said, “Last night we cut a promo. Unscripted. Like every promo we ever cut. We made us. Stop talking about things you don’t know.”

Hopefully, WWE does not make too many changes to the group because they were one of the bright spots on the NXT brand. Top names like Roman Reigns, Edge and Paul Heyman are given more leeway with their promos but that is not guaranteed for everyone and if the plan is for Hit Row to be unscripted, those plans can always change. Hopefully, they are able to stay true to their NXT characters.
