In a video posted to his Instagram account, former WWE Champion The Miz has officially offered to replace Drew McIntyre as Logan Paul’s tag team partner at SummerSlam, should McIntyre be unable to make it back to the United States in time for the event. The Miz made a passionate and compelling case, citing his history with both Logan Paul and Randy Orton, and declared that he is “sick of waiting” for his moment.
The video comes in response to the news that Drew McIntyre is currently stranded in the United Kingdom due to passport issues, putting his scheduled SummerSlam tag team match in jeopardy.
“Logan Paul Needs a Partner”
“So I just saw some news that interests me. The man who was bored at work, forgot his passport, Drew McIntyre is landlocked in the UK and might not even be able to make it to work at SummerSlam,” The Miz began. “Well… it looks like Logan Paul needs a partner.”
The Miz then reminded the audience of his history with the social media megastar. “Let me ask you a question. Who is the person that brought Logan Paul into WWE, went out on a limb, put his neck out, and said how great he is going to be?” he asked. “Not only did he do it, he surpassed all of my expectations… I don’t even think Logan Paul has scratched the surface on how good he can be. I look at him as someone that could be a world champion. He’s not just a celebrity playing wrestler. He is the blueprint to what the future looks like.”
A Message for Orton and Jelly Roll
The Miz then turned his attention to their SummerSlam opponents, Randy Orton and Jelly Roll. He confidently referenced his own past victories over the 14-time world champion. “Who did I beat to win my first WWE Championship? Did you forget? Yeah, I’ve beaten Randy Orton, not just once, many times on big stages, and I can do it again,” he declared.
He also had a stern warning for the musician, Jelly Roll. “I’m not gonna crack a joke. I applaud Jelly Roll’s weight loss journey, it’s been incredible to watch, and I love the grind,” The Miz said. “But there’s a difference between dreaming of this and living it every single day. This isn’t a bucket list. This is my life, and I am sick of waiting.”
“I Deserve to be on Everyone’s Mount Rushmore”
The promo then took a more personal and intense turn, as The Miz vented his frustrations about his own perceived status within the company. “Every moment is my moment, and I am sick of waiting for my moment,” he stated. “I am better than every single person in a wrestling ring. And I don’t need to say that I’m the best. I don’t need some stupid moniker. I am better than everyone in a ring, and I am sick of people saying that I am underrated. That is not a compliment, that is a lazy way of giving me my flowers. I deserve to be on everyone’s Mount Rushmore, and yet I’m not, because I make it so easy.”
He concluded with a definitive statement. “There is no substitution. There is only the statement, and this is the statement: The Miz and Logan Paul versus Jelly Roll and Randy Orton at SummerSlam. That’s it. I’m done waiting.”
The tag team match pitting Randy Orton and Jelly Roll against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul is still officially scheduled for the two-night SummerSlam premium live event on August 2 and 3. Drew McIntyre has been providing updates on his travel situation on social media, but as of now, his status for the event remains in question, leaving the door open for a potential replacement.
